Phil Ashby is a TV producer/director who has made film, tape and live broadcast programmes for BBC TV and C4. As an independent, he now works as a DV director/editor, with a production system based on a ‘Final Cut Pro' suite. In addition to his production and editing roles, Phil is a frequent contributor to online technical advice forums, and an experienced trainer of newcomers to video production.

Brief for Session

Video production fundamentals from shooting to editing giving an insight into how to:

•  plan

•  improvise

•  cope with common problems on location

•  put together a simple edit suite (based on Apple Mac/Final Cut Pro) and how to keep it running.

•  use the edit suite to organise a project

……….. and of course the production fundamentals of editing - keeping on top of the mixture of technology and aesthetics that is a digital edit!
