Martin Dupras is a Researcher in Digital Media at University of the West of England. His work focuses on generative techniques for real-time interactive multi-media work. He studied electronic music composition with Jon Appleton, Francis Dhomont and Larry Polansky, and his music/multimedia works have been performed

in the USA, Canada, Brazil, Japan, Netherlands, Italy and the UK. His specific area of interest is creativity and technology through sound and computers and also through interface design, generative systems and broadband delivery. He has worked on some interesting projects involving performance, dance and film including a rather high profile piece with the famous jazz saxophonist Andy Shepard.

Brief for Session

Introduction: brief survey of the development of interactive and digital media.

Interactive TV: survey or existing technology, and how it is being employed (succesfully and unsuccessfully); Comparison of content adapted for Interactive TV and content authored specifically for Interactive TV.

Broadband: Evolution of internet technology and usage. Broadcasting, multi-casting and unicasting. Exisiting delivery technologies. What the future holds.

The world of Games: Online gaming, Xbox Live, Mobile Phone Gaming, etc.

Authoring with interactivity: The Do's and Don'ts.
